At the Aero Club we offer a range of services to local and overseas pilots.

Foreign Conversions

We can convert your overseas licence to a New Zealand PPL. This process usually takes around two weeks from starting your conversion to receiving your New Zealand Licence.

Instructor Hire

If you are only passing through, and do not have the time to convert your licence we can help. We can hire you an aeroplane and instructor to take away for a few days so you can see our wonderful country. This will take all the hassle out of converting your licence for what maybe a single visit.

Instrument Ratings and Renewals If you require an instrument rating or wish to renew your instrument rating we have just the facilities for you to do this. We can start your training or recurrency in our Frasca Simulator. We then have fully equipped Multi and Single Engine Aircraft to complete the training at an International Airport that is equipped with Radar Control Services and an Instrument Landing System.

Aerobatics Rating

An aerobatic rating is a wonderful compliment to any licence. This rating will show you the upper limits of what an aircraft can do. In our Alpha 160a we will provide all the training from no aerobatic experience to a full aerobatic rating.

Tail Wheel Ratings At the club we have a Piper Cub which is a great plane in which to learn how a "tail dragger" works. You will be taken out with one of our experienced instructors and shown all the differences when flying a tail wheel aeroplane.

Tecnam Ratings The Aero Club has a Tecnam Class 2 Microlight available.This is a different experience and can be used once you have gained a licence. Some pilots who can no longer hold a Class 2 (GA) medical make good use of this aircraft under a Microlight medical, which allows them to carry passengers.
